Family First

Supporting Families with Young Children in Rural Highland

How is Family First managed?

Each area is managed by a Co-ordinator who endeavours to respond to the needs of young families locally.

Co-ordinators recruit, train and support volunteers who help deliver the services.

Co-ordinators assess the needs of the families and match their needs with the qualities and skills of a volunteer. They organise groups where parents get the opportunity to come together to share parenting experiences and get additional support.

Co-ordinators liaise with voluntary and statutory agencies to complement existing services.

Co-ordinators are offered training and support by the Family First Manager to ensure that each project is maintained to a high standard and meets the needs of families in the local community.

All information about families is treated as confidential by staff and volunteers at Family First - except where there are concerns for the safety and welfare of the child/children.
