Supporting Families with Young Children in Rural Highland

Can You Help?

Make a difference to the lives of families with young children in the area.

Why do we need volunteers?

Being a parent can be a difficult and demanding job. Many parents long to talk to someone who understands the pressures they feel. Just being able to share experiences can make a difference.

Who volunteers?

Family First volunteers are all ages and come from all walks of life. All that we ask is that you are either a parent yourself of have experience of bringing up children and have a minimum of two hours a week to offer.

All volunteers go through a rigorous screening programme and attend a training course locally.

Volunteers are carefully matched with a family allowing a relationship to develop. On-going training and regular support is offered by the Co-ordinator. Travel expenses are paid.

Why not use your experience as a parent to offer support to local families?

Volunteers need no specific qualifications, but do need to be compassionate and understand the stresses and demands of bringing up young children.

Volunteers represent a lifeline for many families who are finding life stressful, for whatever reason.
