Can You Help?Make a difference to the lives of families with young children in the area. Why do we need volunteers?Being a parent can be a difficult and demanding job. Many parents long to talk to someone who understands the pressures they feel. Just being able to share experiences can make a difference. Who volunteers?Family First volunteers are all ages and come from all walks of life. All that we ask is that you are either a parent yourself of have experience of bringing up children and have a minimum of two hours a week to offer. All volunteers go through a rigorous screening programme and attend a training course locally. Volunteers are carefully matched with a family allowing a relationship to develop. On-going training and regular support is offered by the Co-ordinator. Travel expenses are paid. Why not use your experience as a parent to offer support to local families?Volunteers need no specific qualifications, but do need to be compassionate and understand the stresses and demands of bringing up young children. Volunteers represent a lifeline for many families who are finding life stressful, for whatever reason. |
